I’ll begin with these lyrics from a song written before I was born that nonetheless defined a formative period of my life. Gerard Way was inspired to start writing when he witnessed the Twin Towers falling on 9/11. Their lyricism captures a moment in time when the Euro-American empire had to confront a biopolitics of mass death within its metropole.
